Need a New Logo, Brand Image or Copyright Mat? I Know a Chick!

I spent seven months searching for a graphic artist/designer to create my new BravesDiva brand image.

Y’all. Seriously. Seven damn months. (7!)

As expected, everyone to whom I reached out charged $60-$100/hour. Umm thanks but no thanks. Even though I knew *exactly* what I wanted my logo to look like, and figured that there would be minimal work involved for an experienced GA, I couldn’t swing a $300-$400 invoice. #BallinOnABudget

My original BravesDiva brand image, currently still used as a header image on my personal Twitter account.

Storytime with Tara & fresh logo pics after the jump. So let’s grab a beer & chat. (SPOILER ALERT: Check the header image on this snoop bloggie blogg to see one’a my new babies.)

*side bar* If you don’t care to read the entire saga of how my love affair with designer Elise de la Rue came to be, and how Facebook tried to come between us, feel free to scroll to the bottom of this post for all of her contact info.

I’ve always adored my BravesDiva image and I’m very attached to it, but if/when I get to the point where I’m makin’ money off’a my brand (soon, I hope), I can’t very well do it while incorporating the logo of a professional sports team.

So for now, my original brand image will remain the header on my personal Twitter account, where folks can find me runnin’ my mouth & generally makin’ an ass outta m’self on the daily…fo’ free. Continue reading “Need a New Logo, Brand Image or Copyright Mat? I Know a Chick!”

Review of Easy Peel Latex Barrier By Nail Experiments

Most nail artists prolly have a liquid latex product in their arsenal, and more than likely they’ve tried more than one brand. I already have a favorite latex that I use in my messy nail art designs, but when I discovered Nail Experiments (NE) on Instagram, I was intrigued. I mean, lookit these pritty colorrrrrrrsssss! *heart eyes emoji*

Lookit these gorgeous colors of Easy Peel liquid latex barrier! Soooo pretty! (photo credit: Nail Experiments IG)

YouTube video & pics after the jump. So let’s grab a beer & chat.

A few weeks ago when I was traveling home from vacation, I saw an Instagram post from NE advertising a 15% off code for Easy Peel (EP) that was good until midnight of that night. It was 10 p.m. & I was on a road trip from hell with nothin’ better to do in the car but shop. Duh.

Even though I have a latex that I adore, it’s not yellow. And, by gawd, I wanted a yellow one. Yellow is the color of happiness, amirite?

I bounced over to the NE website, happily selected my happy yellow (there are 15 colors — FIFTEEN! — from which to choose, btw…) & happily threw that bad boy into my cart. But at some point during the checkout process, I got an error message that said “The yellow Easy Peel can’t be shipped to the U.S.” Whaaaat? Nooooo! This sucked the happiness right outta me. So I ran back to the IG post & told Elena about the ordering snafu. Continue reading “Review of Easy Peel Latex Barrier By Nail Experiments”

Welcome to BravesDivaNails!

Hey, y’all! BDN is *live*! HOLLA! I’ve wanted to create this space for a while now, so here I am.

I’ve been busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kickin’ contest. In the past 10 days alone I’ve taught myself how to film & edit tutorials, I’ve purchased & designed this website, I’ve created my BDN YouTube channel & Twitter account, and started a brand logo re-design (which means that my banner pic will be changing sometime soon).

In the meantime, I just wanted to put up a quick post about what you can expect to find on this site as I continue to learn from & grow with the nail art community. Continue reading “Welcome to BravesDivaNails!”
