Review of Esmaltes da Kelly Nail Polish from Beautometry

After readin’ my blog post & seein’ the YouTube video of my review on the Creative Shop Space Collection stamper, Beautometry asked me to review some stamping polishes from Esmaltes da Kelly. I received three polishes, a Vive la Vie stamping plate & a nail file.

Lemme first give a huge shoutout to Beautometry for such generosity. Their kindness has given me another opportunity to act a damn fool on the innernets. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Ima tell y’all right now, this’ll be a pic-heavy post. You’ve been warned.

The polishes that I received are Leo, Doguito & Carina. The Vive la Vie plate is titled “Vacation,” but I’m not reviewin’ the plate in this post. That review will be up a bit later.

Swatches & YouTube video review after the jump. So let’s grab a beer & chat.

Leo & Doguito are from EdK’s Animals collection, and Carina is from her Nebulas Ultra Holo collex. All three can be used as regular polish & stamping polish, and are opaque in one coat.

The very first thing that I noticed about Carina is that it’s pretty much a 100% dupe of Glisten & Glow’s “Netflix & Chill.” If you don’t believe me, check out my Instagram swatch & see for yourself.

Buuuuuut, as I state in the vid below, I have no idea which polish is a dupe for which. Don’t care. They’re both gorge.

Wanna see the worst #nailfail thumb stamping job of all time & laugh yer ass off? Press play. 👇🏽

Here are my swatches & nail art designs with each polish. I only took macro shots of two designs. I wasn’t really feelin’ the Leo stamping enough to wanna look at it up close. *shrug* Sometimes it be like that.

If you’re a Texas Longhorns fan, this is your shit right here. But #neverforget that my Arkansas Razorbacks beat y’all’s ass in the Texas Bowl in 2014. #woopigsooie

Doguito is a very thick, baby pale pink creme that is opaque in one coat & stamps very well.

Like I said, Carina is a dupe for Glisten & Glow’s Netflix & Chill. So if you missed out on Netflix & Chill, which was a limited edition polish that was released for Black Friday 2015 (I *think* it was a BF ’15 polish, but don’t quote me on that date), then by all means, pick up EdK’s Carina.

Summary:

Pros

  • Every polish is an amazing one-coat formulation
  • Although it’s way thick, it still self-levels beautifully when used as an all-over color
  • If every polish from the Nebulas Ultra Holo collex is as gorgeous as Carina, then getcho ass over to Beautometry & buy all of em. Now!

Cons

The only real complaint that I would have is the messy Doguito bottle, but as I showed y’all in the YT vid, I think it was an issue of bein’ filled past capacity during the pour.

*Note: These EdK polishes are not “Big 3-” or “Big 5-“free, but that’s not a deal-breaker for me. I’ve been paintin’ my nails with mainstream brands for 40 damn years & have yet to sprout a third leg or prehensile tail.

And I worked for a chemical company for 10 years, for fucks sake. If I drop dead tomorrow, I just want my nails on fleek.

If you have sumn to say about EdK polish, drop me a line & lemme know.

See y’all next time!

  1. Aww thank you, love. You’re very sweet. But don’t be *too* jealous…I still fire off one #nailfail after another. lol I’m startin’ up a “Drunk Nail Art” series soon — it’s gonna be a compilation of drunk (and sober) nail fails. You can check out those videos & feel better about your stamping abilities. Ha! 😉

  2. Great review and swatches! I had pretty good luck stamping with EDK polishes. At least good enough to order some more. As if I need a reason to order more polish 😂
